Marilynn,
I had a 290 with an Isuzu diesel. Jim is right some people
complained that it didn't have enough power but not me. My only
complaint was that it was noiser than the 454 gas engine, which was
most often used on the P30 chassis. But it was a lot more
economical, as well.
I had a friend in Dallas with an Isuzu in a 345 and he often towed a
Suburban. Looked like a train coming down the road. He didn't
complain about power either.
