Re: [A/S] Battery dead resolution
Hello All,
I just want to add that my Airstream has been plugged in for around
eleven years and the battery in it is around fifteen years old and still
going strong.
I cannot add water to it as it is a sealed deep cycle (a large marine
battery).
I have had to change the terminals twice on it but that has been the only
maintenance it has needed.
The battery is a Delco I got at Walmart years ago and it has been in a
boat for several years and then the Airstream.
I followed a rather simple dictum when I purchased that battery and that
was: "if the battery can be lifted without a strain, it is not worth
having"
The heavier a battery, the more lead in the plates. Thick plates make
them last longer.
This doesn't really apply with the new crop of Optimas' and other
spiral-plate types out now but it does hold true for 99% of the batteries
being sold.
