Gary, one solution is to pad a board (a piece of carpeting works for me),
place the padded board across a couple of ribs on the roof of the trailer
and rest your ladder on the padded board. The ribs will support the weight
and the padding protects the trailer skin. If your weight is on the ribs
(rivet lines) you will not damage the trailer.
