Re: [A/S] Removing Old Sealant From Trailer
I don't think there is a solvent that will completely remove the Vulkem.
Unless it appears that the old Vulkem is cracked and separated from the
skin, I would think it is still doing its job. I was able to take a
screwdriver and putty knife to remove some bad spots around windows and the
door, and then cleaned the surface with mineral sprits before putting a new
bead of vulkem on. This is great stuff, but you don't want to put it on to
thick, it can be a real mess. The best approach is to put on a narrow bead
and then don't mess with. Let it dry as it lays so to speak. If you try and
smooth it out you will have it all over the place. Most of my serious Vulkem
projects I let Bob Jones RV here in Houston do. They have some guys that are
real artist at putting this stuff on.
