Richard,

This is true.  Trailer tires have a UV inhibitor which
is spread through the sidewalls when the tire is used
(flexed).  The amount of inhibitor is greater than the
amount used in automotive tires since they do not
suffer as much since the position of an auto is always
changing.  That's one of a few reasons why you don't
put automobile tires on any trailer, regardless of the
tire's load capacity.
