[A/S] Power Disc Brakes, the latest thing??
See the new TrailerLife. They're extolling the virtues of the latest
technological breakthrough, vacuum assisted hydraulic disc brakes for
trailers!!!!!!
hmm my '77 Airstream came with them from the factory....
granted the new brakes are more computerized, also, instead of the tow
vehicle providing the vacuum, there is a vacuum pump on the trailer, making
it more self contained. BUT, the artile meantions a lag before the brakes
kick in. I don't have that problem, using the Midland UltraVac II that came
with the trailer I've adjusted the brakes to come on just before the car.
One reason I've kept my familys '77 is that I didn't want to give up the
ExcellaVac Disc Brake system. It was going to cost me 2500.00 to have the
brakes switched between mine and a newer trailer. Now I'll just retrofit the
new system.
