[A/S] Weight distribution question

Good Morning,

I have been towing my; 1972, 27' Overlander with our 1986, 6.2 diesel, 1500,
Suburban for about nine years. We recently traded it for a new 2500,
Suburban with the 7.4LT HO SFI engine. Last night I towed the Airstream
from our storage lot over to our residence (two miles) to get it ready for a
ten day trip. Here is my question; with the old Sub (1/2 ton) the rear of
the car would drop about 6 to 8 inches under the weight of the Airstream.
We then raised it to full height of electric tongue jack hooked up the
weight distribution bars with 4 links hanging and when we lowered the jack,
Sub and "Silver Bullet" were all level - A-OK. When I hitched it to our new
Sub, "The Bull", the rear only went down about 1". If I follow the same
procedure, outlined above, for my load leveler bars, will I be getting any
benefit from the weight distribution system ? Do I need to use the bars
with "The Bull"?

Thank you,

David Crook
