Hi Patti,

I use a 500 watt unit in my company truck and a 175 watt to run my laptop 
GPS.  They work well, but they EAT batteries.  (Ask me how I know, DUH.)  
Don't forget if it uses 1 amp on 120 volts it uses 10 amps on 12 volts. 
(Plus a little more to run the inverter.)  Also the AC output is not a real 
clean sine wave, which makes some electronic toys very unhappy.
