Two comments,

1. There are organisms that grow and thrive in hot water.

2. Typically it takes boiling temperatures to be effective to kill 
undesirable organisms, most RV hot water heaters can not be set high enough 
to be effective. I believe even the newer hot water heaters such as 
Suburban have fixed thermostats set at 135 deg.
