Well, thanks to some suggestions I did a little test and now know for sure 
what the funky smell is.

It's coming from the hot water heater. A little history.... three years ago I 
had a Hott Rod installed in the heater. (Electric water heater) It started 
throwing the breaker a few months ago which meant the heater rod was 
faulty......I haven't used hot water all winter because I showered in the 
house. I did shower at Sarasota at the rally, but used the propane to heat it 
of course.

How did I arrive at this conclusion.... simple. duh...... I ran the faucet 
water on cold and no smell, moved the lever to hot and the funky smell was 
overwhelming........ TA  DA!!!

Not sure what to do. I know I need to drain it, but I can't get the Hott Rod 
out without moving the propane lines in front of it.... <sigh>  Not sure if 
I'll need a new water heater or not....... if so can someone tell me about 
the "demand hot water heaters."

Why are they called hot water heaters? Why aren't they called cold water 
heaters?
