Tim,
That is an impressive description of the right way to replace those corner 
windows. We usually take that clamp strip between the corner and center 
window by taping it up (not down) with a wood block and hammer.
You method for taking the frame out is ok. Drilling the rivets is not the 
best way to go. Once done and the old window is out you have a weakened skin 
to remount or replace the window. Knocking off the old buck rivet heads, 
pulling the window frame and grinding the rivet stems leaves a smooth solid 
skin to work with.
The other alternative is to buy replacement windows from an Airstream 
dealer, about $275 ea.
