Re: [A/S] Tow Vehicles
This reminds me of when I went to my very first Airstream rally. It was at
Palmetto Park north of Greenville, SC.
Everyone was very interested in my truck, trailer, hitch, chains etc.... I
think because I'm a woman or maybe because they always did that to
newbies.... my puller was a 1/2 ton Suburban with a 5.7 vortec, plenty of
truck for the 21 foot 4,000# trailer I had back then.
As I got to talking to people there was an older couple with the identical
1500 Suburban only it wasn't the vortec engine, it was an older model. (mine
was a '96), To my amazement they were pulling a 34' tri axle Excella.
"Don't you have trouble pulling *that* trailer with that Suburban?" I asked
as tactfully as possible.
The nice man said, "No, well..... we did have some problems in the mountains
in Colorado, a couple of times we had to *turn around* before we got to the
top." I was flabbergasted, not just because they had a puller that couldn't
pull over mountains but because they we able to turn that rig around on the
road.
