Your '79 must be like my '78.  The charge condition
meter will not work anymore as it will be
disconnected.
If you ordered a Charge Wizard ($30...well worth it)
it will tell you the same thing and more.  The only
trouble I had in removing the univolt was the weight
of the thing...it is HEAVY!  The inteli-power fit
great as it is smaller than the univolt and was a
breeze to hook up.  There is a white wire to the
univolt that appears to be a ground wire but it is the
wire that goes to the charge meter in your control
panel.  I unhooked it at the fuse box.  I had to add a
ground wire which I took thru the bottom vent in the
converter area and attached it via a stainless steel
screw to the frame.  Good luck.
