  If it's been a year or 2 and/or 12,000 miles, the wheels should be 
pulled so the bearings can be cleaned & repacked. Normally, bearings 
won't develop excessive play between maintenance sessions unless they're 
failing. It's also possible that they weren't adjusted properly during 
the last repacking, but I'd pull the wheel myself, just to be sure.

There's normally VERY little play in wheel bearings. If you "noticed it" 
without looking for it, it's probably excessive.
