I have this same truck in a 2001 model. I just bought a 1974 27'
international with a book wt. of 4600# empty and a loaded wt. of 6200#. The
trailer had a lot of stuff in it and I would guess the actual wt. to be
about 5000#. The trailer was equiped with a Reese cam type leveler and sway
controll.I installed a Jordan electric brake controll in the truck. After
looking at a couple of other brake controlls this one looked easier to
install and worked very well. I pulled the trailer from near Tampa Florida
to south Louisiana with no trouble. I ran about 65 mph in good conditions
and slowed to under 60 in high wind and on the bad parts or I 10 around New
Orleans. The trip was about 775 miles mostly flat with a few rolling hills.
On the steep bridges the truck slowed considerably. I feel the truck is
adequate to pull this size trailer under these conditions but wouldn't be
good in the Smokies.
