Another way to monitor your engine or transmission is with oil analysis.
Check out Blackstone Lavatories at
http://www.blackstone-labs.com/index.html who does at a reasonable cost
$18.50.  I will begin using testing on my new Duramax at each oil change
initially, possibly less often after a base line is established.

As many say, oil is cheaper than iron.  I can add, analysis is better
than guessing.
