When I first started Airstreaming, I quickly found two things very irritating 
and usually a source of "cross words" between my wife and me.  The two items 
were: 1) aligning the tow vehicle with the trailer to hook up; and 2) 
maintaining communications while backing the trailer.  

Now that I am retired, I have more time to consider how to avoid the 
potential conflicts and keep harmony in the family.  I addressed the first 
frustration by adding a removable convex mirror to the jack post.  It allows 
me to see the ball on the truck and align it with the trailer.  I bought the 
mirror at Wal*Mart and mounted it to a piece of PVC pipe.  I permanently 
mounted another piece of PVC pipe to my trailer jack post.  The PVC pipe with 
the mirror slips into the permanent PVC pipe on the jack post when I am 
hooking the truck to the trailer.

To address the second problem, I bought a set of the small, hand held family 
channel radios that they sell at Wal*Mart and many other places.   The radios 
allows my wife and me to communicate while I am backing the trailer even when 
she is where I cannot see her in the mirrors.

Just thought I would throw out these two ideas.  Valentine's Day will be here 
soon and we need to do all we can to keep harmony within our Airstreams.  
Also, when you are staying in an Airstream for an extended period of time, it 
goes much better if the "cross words" are kept to a minimum.

Remember, in an Airstream there is not enough room to cuss a cat without 
getting a hair in your mouth.
