I'm so sorry for you! I think the paint is worse then the broken lock! I 
haven't tried it, but what about the wallpaper remover stuff? You sponge 
it on, wait, then wash it off. If it worked it wouldn't scrape or take 
off the finish. Worth a try.
I'm now happy I  took down  a section of my fence and put the Safari on 
my patio for the winter! It's close to the back door, I can plug it in 
and charge the battery and best yet, I can just go out and sit in it 
when I get the urge!
