The pilot light gets sucked out when the furnace shuts
down because the combustion chamber is full of dirt
and or rust. Pull the furnace out, dis-assemble it,
clean it "very" thoroughly, replace the gaskets and/or
crossover tube as necessary, reassemble, and
reinstall.
Unless the combustion chamber has a hole in it, you
now will have a well functioning furnace, that will
last a few more years. Internally cleaning all
Suburban heaters, is a must. When the volume of the
combustion chamber is reduced, by dirt or rust,
however slightly, then many seemingly crazy things
happen, as you have experienced.  Max
