[A/S] Git Rot

Hi Guys,

Yes, I've used Git Rot and it does exactly what it says on the box. I even
took the suggestion of mixing in wood shavings. The local millwork shop gave
me clean "fine" grade shavings. I used it on spots where the floor was
nearly non existent. I put down several layers (one layer per day). But with
the top layer, I didn't mix in any shavings because I wanted the surface to
be smooth. 

I bought my Git Rot at a local marina after watching how it was applied and
coming back two days later to see the end result. The repaired spot on the
boat was the strongest part of the boat and far stronger than when the boat
was brand new. 

There are other less expensive brands for those who don't need this much
strength. My mentor at the boatyard clued me to only use it when I would be
certain of several days in a row when the weather was expected to be dry and
warm. 

He cautioned me not to start the job until I was certain of no interruptions
for several hours, preferably after lunch during the driest part of the day.
He suggested taking the phone off the hook, giving my wife $50 and
"encouraging" her to go shopping. That increased the cost of the repair.
<grin>

Next time I want to repair a rotted spot on the floor, I'll try the cheapest
epoxy I can find. Guys like Jim Smith do this work regularly and have it
down to a science. I'm an rank amateur by comparison.
