Keeping a thermostat at 50 degrees is NOT a waste of propane if your water
lines are not winterized. Most water lines are not in the open where
circulated furnace heat gets to easily. Keeping in mind that cold seeks the
lowest level and there is considerable loss on the floor and against the
walls, 50 degrees keeps far enough ahead to prevent a catastrophe.
Besides, in SC it's only the early morning temps that drop below freezing
and then not very often.
Might be a reason that the thermostat minimum setting is 50 degrees. Did
Airstream engineers have their thinking caps on?
