Jim. Turning the thermostat to zero, in effect, stops
the flame from providing enough heat to cause cooling.
There are two flame positions from your burner. One is
"high" and the other is "low", or standby. The cooling
unit works only when the flame is "high". The low
flame is "standby", and it's heat output is not great
enough to effect any cooling. You cannot see any
difference in the flame output, unless you are in a
darkened room. Sometimes, you can hear a difference,
between the high and low. The flame does not actually
go off. Max
