My 65 Tradewind has a seprate dead bolt that sets aboute 4 in below the round 
door knob Both appear to be factory installed. when we bought our present 
home I had a locksmitr change all the tumblers and also the tumblers on the 
airstream so the house key works on the trailer also. the dead bolt extends 
out of the loch aboute 1 inch but only goes into the door frame about 1/2 
inch. I think I will disamble the dead boltand eather fabricate a new one or 
add another 1/2 in to the present one. there is no signthat the door eaver 
has blown open. I thinh the whole Ida of doors that open fram the front is 
stupid the inside layout could have been arranged so that the door could have 
been mover back and and opened from the rear.having said that it is not 
impossable for the company to have designed a foolprof clouser so this 
provlem would have never existed in the first place. The bottom line is what 
is importent keep up an elusion of quality but do it cheep.
      As to the ungodly cost of OEM replacement parts I.E.$500.00 door latch 
I know from experance that if it is marine or RV expect to be gouged.Shop 
around and many of the things that can be used or adapted are avalable from 
your local hardware supplier ar auto parta store.
