Yes George, I think you are correct except that "alot of weight" is 
not specific. I think it would be about 1/2 the weight of everything 
foreward of a line between the the balance point on one side and the 
jack point on the other side offset by the weight aft of that same 
line. The weight close to the line effects tongue weight less than 
weight at the extremes, so the additional weight in the triangle 
formed by the axle ends and the jack point should have relatively 
small effect. You are lifting 1/2 the weight of the wheels though,
and that is a factor. The only real way to tell would be to set the 
toungue lift on a scale and weigh it with and without a jack under
the jack point and then look for the specs on the lift to see if it 
exceeded the rating. In the meantime, next time I need to get one 
wheel off I'll take Hunter's advice and drive the other wheel onto a 
small ramp. Duh, why didn't I think of that?
