I have seen this type of post more than a few times and wondered the same, 
who does this type of thing? 
Some where along the line the drums were balanced on our unit. Maybe from the 
factory?  There are weights on the outside of the drum and appear to have 
been there a long time. Could be yours have been done also and never noticed.
