I was crazy about a year ago and bought a 69 Caravel.  I had been looking for 
an Airstream for years in my price range and a small size for weekend camping 
with my family.  I found this Caravel online in the want ads that the Detroit 
newspapers put on line, I saw the ad 15 minutes after the guy placed it.  He 
couldn't believe I called on it so quickly.  We made him promise that he 
wouldn't sell it before we made the 4 hour trip to see it first.  By the time 
we got there, there were 4 other couples waiting to see it after we had our 
turn.  After a quick inspection, (no power, no water to hook up to) and just 
his word and a gut feeling we gave him the 2,500.00 and drove it 4hrs home.  
In retrospect we truly were crazy to buy it that quickly, but there were 
others waiting in line to be just as crazy!  We were lucky everything worked 
well except the hot water heater which we replaced.  I made new curtains and 
recovered the cushions myself.  Someone loved this trailer many years ago and 
with a little elbow grease we have made it a spiffy little unit, that we 
love. We still have things we would like to do like polish the exterior and 
new awnings, new carpet or vinyl.  But right now we are pleased as punch with 
our new little "toaster."  We have had many people stop by our house to try 
and buy it, they all say "I have always wanted an Airstream."  When we drive 
into a campground people always comment on how "cool" it is.  I guess what I 
am trying to say is for us being "crazy" has worked out fine.  We plan on 
being crazy for many more years in our vintage Airstream!
