Jerry,

My understanding is that you would use a standard electronic 
brake controller like the ones used electric brakes and a 
standard seven pin female connector on your bumper.  You plug 
your male connector from your trailer into the female connector 
just as you would in a standard electric brake system.  The brake 
wire carries the signal to the electric/hydraulic master cylinder.  It 
only from this point on that the brakes become different than 
standard electric brakes.
