[A/S] univolt help needed

 Dear listees,  I was working in the a/s  the other day. Had the radio 
playing. decided to unscrew one of the wall speakers, an you guessed it. 
The radio went dead. I continued working, figured my husband could fix 
it. Then the lights started to dim.  The next thing no lights were 
working. So today he looked it all over. Can't find a fuse on the radio. 
He took the battery out and charged it up. He checked the univolt with a 
meter. no voltage. So when the battery was charged we left the lights on 
to see if the univolt would work. we are also connected to electric from 
the house.. But the battery is flat again. Do you think the univolt is 
gone or do we need to check something else? Any help is appreciated.
