[A/S] Ethylene Glycol taste

     It's not just dogs.  I understand that Ethylene Glycol has a 
kind of sweet taste (to humans).  Here in Atlanta, we have an ongoing 
investigation into two deaths that were deemed suspicious.  Bodies 
were exhumed, and they were found to have been poisoned with Ethylene 
Glycol.  No one knows why or who did it.
     EG is not, of itself, toxic, but when you metabolize it, one of 
the products is methyl alcohol, which itself metabolizes into a toxic 
chemical.  The "antidote" for methyl alcohol poisoning is heavy doses 
of ethyl alcohol, to try to get the methyl alcohol out before it can 
metabolize.  A really, really, hard way to party. ;-)
