Hi Sam: My good "trick" for defrosting the freezer compartment ...is seting a small fan opposite the open door of the freezer with the pan of warm water inside the freezer and it only takes a few minutes for the ice to drop. I too thought hair dryer too much. Pearl in SoCal. 1999 Safari 27 ft.
