Re: [A/S] Clearcoat
I winter at Port O' Call in Melbourne. A number of Airstreams were pulled
there in the late 70s and early 80s and have not been moved since. As you
would expect, the hot sun takes a toll on the clearcoat. Some of the
trailers have had their roof and upper end caps painted with aluminum paint.
I don't know the mfg. or color code on the paint used. One fellow in the
park has a home based business for washing, waxing and painting Airstreams.
When he is finished with the paint job, it is hard to tell the painted
portion from the unpainted sides. This would make a good option to consider
if you have clearcoat problems.
Also, the Airstream factory has a number of old Airstreams on their fenced
lot. One of the units is a gold colored Airstream. I would guess it may
have been anodized. Someone said it was one of Wally's trailers.
