My wife doesn't like the sofa either, although we have
not tried to use it as a bed at this point.  I carry a
canvas deck chair (not a high one) and usually use it
when we are watching the TV.  

My wife also gets a back ache from the bed.  She
bought one of those memory foam ($$$) pads to put on
her bed.  She swears that its the best money we have
spent on the trailer so far.
