I have a question about the power stroke with 5 speed transmission.

I noticed when slowing and down shifting and using the engine for breaking, that
there was a rather prominent growl from the transmission until the clutch was
fully engaged. There is no growl while idling in neutral (I thought it might be
the Throw out bearing) or when the clutch is depressed.  The truck has 75K on
it.

 Is this normal?
