Re: [A/S] Addition of new Electric Frig

Patti,

I recently installed one in an '84 A/S. I asked the same question before I
removed and inspected the original. After it was removed, I knew the answer
to my own question.

Your answer is both. I attached mine firmly to the floor with a pair of
long wood screws driven through the back side of the skids that the refer is
mounted on. If I remember correctly, the skids were approximately 1/2 thick
and the A/S floor is normally 5/8" plywood. Use screws that are at least 1"
long, up to 1 1/2" long should be acceptable. You can think of them as
resembling the runners on a sled. From the backside, gaining access from
the outside access door, insert the screws in the runners and drive them
into the plywood floor. Also, I attached about six screw through the
outside edges of the face trim on each side of the doors into the cabinet
surround.

The screws through the floor should provide most of the strength.
