Re: [A/S] windows

Those are the Vista View windows. They have a plastic inner liner, so
they are like a thermalpane window. I just repaired mine this
summer....they were loose and leaking. I removed the aluminum trim
ring that holds the window in and threw away the inner plexiglass
liners. I cleaned the glass and frame really well and put a bead of
Vulkem around the edge of the glass and stuck it into place. I
held it there, temporarily, with some small wooden blocks I had cut
beforehand. After it sat overnight, I put the trim ring back in and took
some round, foam backer rod 5/8" in diameter and forced it
in between the glass and the trim ring. I then caulked over the top of
the backer rod, and had a nice clean installation. I used an off-white
latex caulk on the inside, to match the interior color of
my '73 Overlander International. The foam backer rod is a product used
by the construction industry. It looks like rope made of closed-cell
foam. It can be purchased at most construction supply
places....Home depot probably has it. It comes in almost any diameter
from 1/4" up to 2" (the largest I've seen.) The 5/8" worked about
perfect on my Vista Views.
