Re: [A/S] Do You Believe This Response from Airstream?

I have been looking in to the AC cooling efficiency question trying to
determine if it is worthwhile to replace my 25 yr old original Armstrong.
From what I have found out the 20 degree rule is the accepted tolerance. My
unit will keep the inside temp at around 80 degrees during the heat of the
day when the temp is just at 100 degrees here in Houston. The temp coming
directly out of the unit is at around 60 degrees. 20, 20, 20. As the OS temp
drops the inside temp drops because the output temp dropped. You would think
that over the past 20 too 30 years that the technology would have improved
to provide a more efficient AC. Also, from what I hear from others the
13,500 BTU is to small. In my previous A/S 27' installed a 15,000 BTU Brisk
Air. It would keep the trailer very cool even on the hottest days. Although
this unit is available it does not have the drip pan and the water runs down
the side. As I understand only the penguin, 13,5000 unit has the drip pan
for A/S and is the stock unit on new A/S's. I guess I will keep my old
Armstrong for a while.
