Re: [A/S] Inconsiderate Campers
Norma,
My wife makes "real meals" almost every day when we're travelling, and
she won't hear of instant coffee. She's done small roasts and such in
the oven, also some baking. It really took us very little thought to
figure out how to live w/o electricity. The effort was well worthwhile,
as we don't have to fuss with a genset, nor subject our neighbors to the
racket.
If I didn't have solar panels, I'd do things a bit differently:
Get a good automatic battery charger of at least 10 amp capacity, cost
would be about $50.00 at WalMart, OR install an Inteli-Power or other
smart converter/charger.
and:
buy a small Honda genset. That way, I'd be able to (quietly) charge my
batteries in a few hours of run-time, which I'd probably do in mid-day
so as to not bother others with even the murmer of those little outfits.
Charging your battery with the standard UniVolt, et. al. really doesn't
work all that well, at least not if the battery is 'low' and you want to
charge it in a reasonable length of time.
