Hi Terry,
We have a 1999 23 foot Safari.  We live in Florida so it is exposed to lots 
of heat.  So far, the doors and the vinyl covering has stayed on just fine.  
I guess if you did have a problem, you could order a new door direct from 
Airstream.  Under the vinyl is a laun mahogany plywood.  I think the doors 
could be veneered with real wood.

Our consideration was weight when we purchased our Safari.  We are extremely 
happy with it.  Our initial difficulties were with the windows and the 
Airstream factory replaced three of the windows under the warranty.
