Re: [A/S] Re: Water filter
Larry,
Buy a new Everpure. These are far and away the best filter to put in a
travel trailer. (Only a reverse osmosis system is better, but not very
practical for a trailer's water system.)
The Everpure has a unique design which provides a lot of surface area for
the activated carbon filtering medium, and usually doesn't clog until it is
really shot.
The high capacity carbon allows you to super chlorinate the fresh water tank
(with plain old chlorine bleach) to kill most anything, and then the filter
takes out the crud and the chlorine.
Changing the filter element is easy since the filter is a cartridge which
includes the housing. It has a quick release, 1/4 or 1/2 turn bayonet
connection. This beats trying to unscrew a filter bowl in the cramped area
under or behind the sink (not to mention the water drip problem). The
Everpure includes a shut off valve in the head of the filter (which is
fastened to the bulkhead and water lines).
All told, this is an excellent design and a fine product. Camping World
frequently has them on sale - both the entire unit and the replacement
filters.
