Hello, Ted,
I am a complete novice at trailering since I just brought my 25' Sovereign 
home at the end of May.  That and one weekend of local camping is all the 
experience I have.  I did purchase the Ultima 2020 based upon the positive 
comments I've read here and again, with nothing to compare it to, I can only 
say it seems to work just fine.  I installed it myself which was quite easy 
due to my new truck having a wiring harness.  Check under the dash to see if 
there is one of those plastic wiring receptacles with nothing plugged into 
it.  If so, it's probably your wiring harness just waiting for you!.  If it 
were me and I'd have to do the whole wiring job, I'd be inclined to bring 
somewhere to have it done.  Others are more experienced and would have no 
trouble.  Sounds like you're more in my league.  I'm a dyed-in-the-wool 
do-it-yourselfer but there are some things I'd just as soon not have to learn 
how to do.  I guess I'm losing patience as I get older.  Best of luck.  I'll 
bet you'll do fine.
