If the kit was manufactured by Airstream I could call it an
Airstream. Back when things were simpler and there were a lot of ham
radio kits, Heathkit transmitters, receivers, and transceivers, were
assembled by Heathkit Company as well as people who bought kits.
They were all called Heathkit and I was always somewhat surprised
that the resale value didn't vary that much regardless of who
assembled it.

At one time some airplanes were sold in kit form as well as
assembled by the factory. Less than 50 percent of the assembly could
be done by the manufacturer for it to be called a kit. And that was
a technical description because different FAA rules applied its use.

Our first RV was a 1964 Bambi. It was almost a kit because it had
been trashed out inside and I stripped it out and did my thing to it
including installing a small bath tub. Marilyn and I and our two
daughters saw the country in that little thing while they were
growing up. I wish we still had it. At the time it didn't occur to
me that I was selling part of the family.
