Re: [A/S] Food for trailer Tire thought

I,too, had two blowouts with LR "C" Marathons. Mine were 5
years old, however; how old were yours when you had your blowouts?
Someone at the Old Time Fiddler's Rally last year told me he had
the same situation, also with severe damage to the wheel well. He
had the presence of mind to save both tires, and contacted Goodyear,
who replaced all five of his tires and paid to have his trailer
repaired. He did not say what they replaced them with (presumably,
with more Marathons, but don't know if they were also LR "C").
I insisted on LR "D" tires, and replaced all of the unblown
tires. I did not know about the date markings at the time of the
blowout, but fortunately, my new Marathons were "fresh," i.e., only a
couple months old, and not the ones subject to a recall (marked with
an "S").
Unfortunately, I did not have the presence of mind to save the
tires (one of which was just a mess of threads, kinda like yours, and
the other had a long piece of its tread unwound); hat was what killed
my wheel well). Actually, I did have the presence of mind to decide
to keep the tires, while I was removing them, but forgot when the new
tires were finally ready to go...two separate senior moments.
