We have a 1985 34.5 with the diesel engine.  We love it and drive it 
all over the country with no problem yet.  We tow our Ford Expolerer 
behind it if we are going anywhere we will need 4-wheel drive, and our 
Taurus the rest of the time.  As the unit has a long rear over-hang, 
we use a tow dolly and that works fine.  Our hitch is re-enforced to 
the frame members.  I have had to rebuild the refrigerator once and 
replaced the water pump.  The onan genset works fine as do all other 
appliances.  
The gas engine has plenty of power I am told and should tow just fine. 
 Check all the appliances and the generator to see if they work.  Make 
sure when the key is turned on the air ride compressor kicks in in the 
rear of the coach.  
These units can be real squirrely if the shocks are bad.  A little 
wind and it gets exciting.  Check the shocks.  They aren't that 
expensive, but if you try to drive in a wind, you will get a thrill.
