I think that you are comparing oranges and apples when you try to
compare car and trailer tires. Trailer tires are used totally different
than are car tires. Probably, most trailers don't see much more than 5,000
miles a year. The tread doesn't generally wear out. The UV kills the tire
before wear does. I think that my trailer gets a whole lot more use than
most. I put about 10,000 miles on it last year, but I put 35,000 on my
F-250.
The truck tires too have to serve under more conditions. I know that
the trailer tires brake, but not as do the truck ones. The truck load
varies too. Steering requirements probably affect tires.
