Well it turned out that the GFI was being tripped
through the TV antenna.  I had a couple of folks on
the list suggest that that was the point.  I unhooked
the cable from the TV to the antenna on the A/S and
the GFI circuit stayed up when the TV was on. 
Connected the antenna wire and we tripped.

I did exchange the set for a new one of the same make
and model.  We tripped again with the second set. 
Apparently there must be some leakage occuring from
the TV through the antenna to ground that the home GFI
picks up. I assume its a design issue of the TV since
it takes about 5 minutes from the point of turning on
the TV until the GFI trips.
