[A/S] Environmental terrorism

> Is this something I missed out on - on the news? Is this physical
torching of SUVS etc? Boy, that really helps the ecology, doesn't
it?!
It was a news story, I think on Peter Jennings' ABC program (I could
be wrong about which program it was), about a series of eco-
terrorists torching SUVs at dealer lots. They showed a horrible
picture of a whole lot full of burned Suburbans. They also
mentioned "luxury" homes as targets. And, no, of course, burning
Suburbans has to be more damaging to the environment than burning
fall leaves, which is banned around here.

Well, they simply don't distinguish the uses for the SUVs. I see,
here in Dunwoody, GA, hourdes of housewives driving one to a vehicle
in Suburbans, Expeditions, Navigators, Jeeps, even Excursions, to do
grocery or other shopping. That's not good in a city (Atlanta) that
has a serious smog/ozone problem every summer. On the other hand,
those same housewives use their SUVs to carry bunches of kids to
schools, soccer, etc. That single-passenger use - typically using
the excuse that the SUV is 'safer' for the 'little lady,' - *is* bad
for the environment. Now, it's gotten to the point of having to be
on the lookout, as many SUV drivers (especially males) are more
aggressive than people in smaller cars, and more careless in
their 'safer' vehicle. That's nothing to do with PC, IMHO. People
towing trailers like us don't have a choice, and singles must drive
one-passenger; however traliers (single or not) are a small part of
the SUV sales in this country.

monster comes along and torches it - what a horrible thought.

The one I said would be a good target? I probably should keep my
mouth shut so as not to give them ideas. The park is Top of Georgia
Airstream Park, north of Helen GA. Rural GA is *pretty* conservative;
I'd hope eco-terrorists might not have such an easy time in that
environment
