Re: [A/S] Dumping Tanks

Hi Hunter,

I was surprised that you didn't comment on the use of chlorine, etc. in the
black water holding tank. As a newbee - never really towed - I've filed a
lot of information about maintenance of holding tanks. Somewhere in my
cranial cavity I recall that only holding tank chemicals designed for the
purpose and containing lubricants for the seal should be used. However,
many times when I think I'm right, I find out later that I was mistaken.
Could be the case now. Seems to me that common harsh chemicals such as
strong bleach, TSP like products, etc. could do more damage than they clean?
Such as using auto type antifreeze in the traps and holding tank. Shouldn't
products intended specifically for RV maintenance be used?

The hoses for the shore water hookup must be fabricated for potable water
use and so state on the label?

Sure wish every A/S came with the Livingston's book on RV repair and
maintenance. :) The owner's and the appropriate service manuals are
critical resources for A/S owners.
