Bob,

I approach this with a little anxiety because a similar thread went
too far and too long a year or so ago.

Just be advised that lead acid cell batteries vent hydrogen as a
byproduct when charging. Hydrogen is highly explosive (an
understatement). Good safety practices would call for inside
batteries to be in an airtight compartment vented to the outside.
