Re: [A/S] 1959 Airstream

Hi John McCollock,

We have a 1963 22' Flying Cloud and tow with a 1975 Mercury Station Wagon - 460 CID - full factory
trailer towing package. Whatever you select for a tow vehicle, make sure it has the capability for
hauling a two ton package WHEREVER you choose to take it.

I've used lesser vehicles and have had my share of going up mountains with the accelerator floored
and still slowing down. One time in Vermont, I was at 5 mph by the time I crested the top of the
mountain. That cured me. Since then, I only tow with full size muscle vehicles that have excessive
engine and transmission cooling capacity and which sport a serious "haul ass" axle ratio.

You'll hear from others on this list who use more "economical" tow vehicles. Pay close attention to
what they say, where they go and how often they go. They have some good points to make.

Why don't you check the archives? There are articles with more detail on this topic.

My suggestion is try to keep an open mind while reading them and avoid coming to a conclusion until
you've considered at least a dozen or more options. In my opinion, the biggest mistake you can make
is prematurely closing down your thinking and making a quick decision. Knowledge is power - power to
gather sufficient data for making decisions that hold up when matched to your objectives.
