*Really, really* difficult.... because they put down the carpet first, then 
install the cabinets and furniture on top.... so, unless you want to remove 
all the cabinets and furniture (you don't!) you will have to cut it close 
enough to the cabinets so it won't show little tufts.

If it were easy I'd have wood floors in mine.
